Splendor Fest 2017 Highlights!
Posted on
On Saturday July 22nd we hosted our Inaugural Splendor Fest that successfully benefited the local homeless community of Washington D.C. in Franklin Square Park.
Morning of the event, we walked to nearby shelters and around the park to speak and encourage homeless residents to attend. It was moving to hear their stories and see many of them show up at Splendor Fest. With more than 8 thousand people that find themselves homeless in Washington D.C., we brought hope, joy, and encouragement into this community. Throughout the day, our 60 plus volunteers provided services for our gracious guests through a clothing drive, catered food, fresh haircuts, and health screenings conducted by the Georgetown University HOYA Clinic.
Walking around the park during the festival, we found children excited about their new clothes and school supplies. We also saw people enjoying food, dancing to live music, and a continuous line of guests waiting for a haircut.
Performances from various artists and special guest speakers Marcus Gill and Darin Strong helped transform the park into an uplifting experience. A Prayer tent from WGTS 91.9 gave out bibles and spiritual advice to the community. Blessing Bags were passed out, gifting guests with toiletries, snacks, and other necessities. The Hope Association was available to assist in providing job readiness and occupational skills.
You could see the difference and delight we were bringing into this community through their smiles and thankfulness. All the guests were able to enjoy the event while receiving a free VIP experience. Big thanks to all our IMAPCT Makers that helped organized, donated, and provided services the day of the festival! Having left an impact through this incredible event, we can’t wait until our next Splendor Fest!
